The Immunization Registry is a confidential, secure, computerized information system that collects vaccination data on children and adults. In addition, the registry consolidates records from multiple health-care providers, generates reminder and recall notifications, and provides accurate up-to-date documented proof of patient community immunization coverage levels.
The Immunization Registry serves as a key tool to increase and sustain high vaccination coverage. It also provides the opportunity to parents and physicians to protect children and adults from vaccine-preventable diseases. Its user-friendly system and accessibility enables registry users to access an array of tools and resources to include the generation of reminder and recall reports and address labels, flagging of invalid doses and creation of vaccine inventory reports that save staff time.
The Immunization Registry, as well as each provider and user, must ensure confidentiality is maintained. Parents/patients must be informed of the sharing of their child?s or their own immunization record and they have rights as outlined in the ICIR Disclosure Statement.
