Environmental Health & Consumer Protection Services
The Imperial County Public Health Department, Section of Environmental Health & Consumer Protection Services, promotes a healthy, safe environment for all members of our community through the regulation of businesses and facilities, such as retail food facilities, small public water systems, private sewage disposal systems, solid waste facilities, public swimming pools, and local detention facilities. Members of the Section participate in a chemical spill emergency response team to provide public health guidance during spill containment and cleanup. Through our Vector Control District we eliminate honeybee swarms that threaten the community and monitor for mosquito-borne disease agents and provide mosquito spraying and abatement whenever possible. Through education we work to improve public understanding of environmental threats to the community health and how to prevent communicable disease.
