Program Focus:
Provide medical care and contribute to the physical and emotional well being of children and youth residing in the Betty Jo McNeece Receiving Home & Juvenile Hall facilities.
Program Activities:
A health department nurse is based at Betty Jo McNeece Receiving Home & Juvenile Hall to work with child welfare workers and probation officers to gather health information, and to advocate for the health care needs of each child. A health department medical provider assesses all children and youth in these facilities. Those children and youth with complicated medical problems are referred to specialists. The nurse provides medical case management. This includes coordinating referrals for medical, dental, and mental health services. The nurse interprets medical reports for case workers and probation officers.
