County Public Health Officer
Dr. Stephen Munday is the Health Officer for the County of Imperial.
Dr. Munday was appointed County Public Health Officer by the
Imperial County Board of Supervisors in March, 2004.
As the County Public Health Officer, Dr. Munday provides leadership
on health issues of local importance. He advises various County
departments on health and regulatory matters and acts s a liaison with the
local medical community and the State of California on communicable
diseases, epidemiological studies and other health topics.
Before being appointed as Health Officer, Dr. Munday had been
working with the Imperial County Public Health Department for a
few years on Tuberculosis / infectious disease control and occupational
medicine. Dr. Munday maintains triple board certification in Public
Health and General Preventive Medicine, Occupational Medicine, and
Medical Toxicology. He holds a Masters of Science in Environmental
Toxicology from the University of CA, Irvine and a Masters of Public
Health from San Diego State University. He completed a Fellowship in
Medical Toxicology at the University of California, San Diego. He is an
attending physician in the California Poison Control System, San Diego
Division and at Sharp-Rees-Steady Medical Group, Department of
Occupational Health Services.
