California Childrens Dental Disease Prevention Program (CCDDPP)


Program Focus:


Assure, promote, and protect the oral health of California’s school children through a school-based program that emphasizes the prevention of oral disease, increased student awareness and knowledge about their oral health, increased student self-responsibility for their oral health, and the development of students’ positive, life-long health behaviors. CCDDPP recognizes the importance of a healthy child, and encourages activities that improve the nutritional, physical and mental well being of individuals.



Program Activities:



  • Classroom oral health education, including materials for parents/guardians
  • Toothbrushing instruction, toothbrushes, dental floss are provided
  • Oral health screenings
  • Dental sealants (Plastic coatings placed on chewing surfaces of healthy molars)
  • Fluoride treatments (mouthrinse and tablet supplements)
  • Community involvement
