Please note the Imperial County Public Health Department will be open for appointments only. Department staff will be available to provide assistance by phone to members of the community who have questions related to any of the Department’s essential services.

Phone assistance will be available Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The office will be closed for lunch from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. This shall remain in effect until further notice.

Testing at Commercial Laboratories

Commercial testing for monkeypox is now available through:

 

  

Action Requested

1. Consider a diagnosis of monkeypox in people who present with an unusual or characteristic rash and who in the month preceding illness:

  1. Reports having contact with a person or people with a similar appearing rash or who received a diagnosis of confirmed or probable monkeypox or
  2. Had close or intimate in-person contact with individuals in a social network experiencing monkeypox activity, this includes men who have sex with men (MSM) who meet partners through an online website, digital application (“app”), or social event (e.g., a bar or party) or
  3. Traveled outside the US to a country with confirmed cases of monkeypox or where monkeypox virus is endemic

2. Report suspected cases of monkeypox to Epidemiology within one working day by calling (442) 265-1464 during regular work hours (8am to 5pm , Monday through Friday) or send email to phepireport@co.imperial.ca.us
