Vaccination is one of the best ways to protect oneself from potentially harmful diseases. Vaccine-preventable diseases can be very serious, may require hospitalization, or even be deadly – especially in infants and young children.

Children need immunizations to protect them from certain dangerous childhood diseases, such as measles, mumps, and rubella. Vaccines are also available to help people of all ages from catching and spreading serious diseases like influenza, meningitis, and pertussis or whooping cough.

Getting immunized helps our communities stay healthier. That’s because diseases spread more easily from person to person among people who haven’t been vaccinated.
