Travel
Travel immunizations are shots recommended for travelers before visiting certain areas of the world. Travel immunizations are a safeguard against serious illnesses and can also prevent the spread of diseases from one world region to another. Routine vaccines for children and adults do not include immunizations recommended for protection from travel-related diseases, such as:
- Hepatitis A
- Hepatitis B
- Typhoid and paratyphoid fever
- Meningococcal disease
- Yellow Fever
- Rabies
- Japanese Encephalitis
It is important to plan your travel and begin your consultation 4 to 6 weeks prior to your travel. Many travel immunizations are given in a series of shots over a period of time. Whether or not you may need one or more travel immunizations depends on a variety of factors. It is important to educate yourself as much as possible and follow recommended precautions carefully.
ICPHD medical staff can provide you with the information and immunizations necessary for your travel. Bring your immunization record with you to your consultation, as it is important for the physician to know which vaccines you may need updated. Also, bring your itinerary with you so that the physician can consider all factors when recommending immunizations.
