FAQ - Alternate Care Facility
The Alternate Care Site is open and operating at the college campus in response to a COVID-19 surge in patients. Patients who will be seen at the facility will be low-acuity patients who will be close to discharge and will be transferred directly from local hospitals. Members of the public will not be able to access care directly at the ACS.
The Alternate Care Site is a coordinated effort between federal, state, and local agencies and is staffed by the California National Guard and the California Medical Assistance Team (CAL-MAT), both of which are State-run programs
The ACS was requested in response to the surge in patients in local hospitals. This effort was to respond to said surge of patients requiring hospitalization to relieve hospitals of some low-acuity patients positive with COVID-19.
