The Recreational Health Program is responsible for the inspection of public swimming pools, spa pools and special purpose pools in Imperial County, to ensure they are built, maintained and operated in compliance with state and local laws.
Public Pool Plan Check
A set of Environmental Health & Consumer Protection Services approved plans must be available onsite until this department has made the opening inspection.
Plans and specifications for proposed and remodeled pools and spas must be submitted prior to construction to ensure that the pool facility complies with the minimum construction and safety requirements.
Plans must be submitted to the Imperial County Environmental Health & Consumer Protection Services for review and approval before constructing or remodeling public swimming pools or spa facilities.
If the pool or spa is located in an incorporated city, plans must be submitted to the incorporated city and Environmental Health & Consumer Protection for plan checking. If the pool or spa is located in the unincorporated area, plans must be submitted to the Imperial County Department of Planning and Development Services. A deposit is required at time of submittal and is billed according to time spent reviewing the plan and inspecting the facility.
